Here's an experiment from several nights ago when we had a full moon - camera was on a tripod for this and after trying to guess at how to best expose the moon itself, I decided to wait for clouds to cover it up, as there were some nice textures cruising by; it seemed better at the time to show the moon by not showing it.
I'm relatively pleased with this result after doing a bit of median filtering on top of some shadow / highlight tweaking. I even like the color funk and bit of noise that creeped in.
