Photo Info
Found outside the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange building - Pine Street, San Francisco CA
Two massive, totem-like statues flank the columned entrance to the Pine Street portion of the Exchange (the tower building being at 155 Sansome Street) - 'Agriculture' and 'Industry', by noted artist Ralph Stackpole (1895-1973). Seen today is 'Agriculture' - the architect directing the planning and construction of the building, Timothy L. Pflueger (1892-1946), was a strong proponent of integration of art with architecture and this is a wonderful example of such vision.
