Here's a closing image from our wanders around the Palace grounds - intended to symbolize life without art, these downcast figures occupy the corners of planter boxes atop each column. The planter boxes were never planted due to budgetary concerns, but these 'weepers' were conceived by sculptor Ulric Ellerhusen as the fugurative means of watering the plantings that never were.
