Flourishing at Strybing Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, San Francisco CA

Native to Chile, the Monkey Puzzle tree can grow up to 120 feet with a trunk up to six feet across - the specimen I saw planted at Strybing wasn't quite six feet tall and its prickly foliage was easily approachable for close photography. I am continually blown away by geometric order in nature.
