Floating at Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary, Norfolk MA

That dark spot in the center of the pond lily? A fat honeybee having a grand old time after diving into this beacon of nectar an pollen - at one point, the bee was completely hidden within the blossom. It was a rather comical scene as the bee climbed back to the flower's surface, rear legs packed with pollen like a pair of yellow saddlebags and barely able to take flight.
