First off, this post had to be resurrected from original files due to a hardware failure that my hosting provider experienced on 10/13 - I wish I could remember what text I posted here originally, because it had some good stuff in it. You'll just have to settle for this re-write. Oh well.
We took a walk last weekend on a defunct section of what was once Route 128 here in Massachusetts. This section of highway is now part of the Blue Hills Reservation and nature has made great strides here in reclaiming its territory - although the highway is still visible with double yellow lines and all, the various mosses and small plants have narrowed the pavement to what now amounts to a single center lane that straddles the old painted lines.
It just amazes me how delicate plants like this line of moss manage to penetrate even the hardest of pavement - this shot just called to me with its sharp delineation of territories. I really liked how the moss just cut through the frame.
