The condition and deep texture of this tree bark drew me almost instantly to this shot. That, and there's all manner of interplay between and among the branches in the background. In other news, I am now several hours away from the receipt of some new glass - I finally caved and ordered up a proper macro lens:-) I see from the tracking status that my new EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro is 'out for delivery'...now I'll have no reason whatsoever not to have fresh material to post!
